The first impression of iPhone X, iPhone XS, and iPhone XR regarding usable buttons and particularly screenshot taking is distressful. Apparently, as a first time user, you will have to grope around for those buttons.

Beginning with iPhone X Apple redesigned the conventional iPhone 6, 7 and 8 buttons. While these earlier models had 4 buttons including the Home Button the iPhone X departed from that and was presented with only two buttons.

Apple iPhone X series took away the Home Button and replaced the area with fingerprint authentication, the Side Button for on/off and lock remained but the Mute Button was gotten rid off while the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons were combined into one button with up and down volume.

So that gave the iPhone X, XS, and XR the two important buttons and it was in this style that my first impression of X was disturbing. I really struggled to find the button for Force Restart and later take a screenshot.

  1. Open the app or screen you want to capture.
  2. Press and hold the Side Button on the right side of the iPhone X or iPhone XS or iPhone XR.
  3. Click the Volume Up button at the exact same time. (This replaces the Home button step from previous iPhones.)
  4. The screen will flash white and you’ll hear the camera shutter sound.

Bingo thats it, you are good to go
