MTN Zambia Aggressive Data Bundle Pricing

MTN Zambia pulled off the plug on its favorite data bundle offering that saw many customers happy with huge data bonuses. And they did this quietly without informing even their most loyal customers like me who uses hundreds of GBs a month.
It’s now understandable the pronouncements must have come from down in SA. MTN South Africa has stepped into a similar breach, offering high-capped packages at aggressive price points. Reports Techcentral.
“Customers who sign up, or upgrade on the MTN Made For Home 60GB data plan will receive 120GB of data, which comes with Huawei B612 router. This is made up of 50GB anytime data, 50GB night express data and a 20GB video streaming bundle which can be utilised to stream and download shows on Showmax and DStv Now.” Note the restriction to video streaming that isn’t applying for YouTube nor Netflix.
Here in Zambia Home Pack MTN bundle at 70GB offered with a Huawei B315s used to throw me to 120GB. I don’t know the 50GB how it was split between day and night or between Youtube and Netflix.

But beginning with last month’s billing of July 25 running into August I noticed the 70GB came as a solid data bundle. Happily, it comes with WhatsApp, Facebook, Snapchat, YouTube, Netflix.
Sadly the daily limit is 500MB an equivalent of a 40 minutes TV show on Netflix in the standard format (not HD). And notice no bonus for DStv Now for the Zambian customer.
And for 25GB, you are given WhatsApp, Facebook, Snapchat, Netflix and the daily limit is 150 MB. The current pricing seems to be a joke for a decent Zambian Youtube and Netflix streamer let alone DStv Xtraview connect.
