LUSAKA, 19th June 2019- Zamtel has today announced a partnership with fast growing electronic voucher distributor and payment system provider 543 Konse Konse to allow Zamtel Mobile Money customers to deposit and withdraw cash with 543 Konse Konse agents.

The partnership entails that any Zamtel Mobile Money customer can deposit and withdraw cash at any 543 Konse Konse Agent.

Further, 543 Konse Konse agents will now be able to receive cash and credit respective customer number on Zamtel Mobile Money.

The partnership also extends the service to all the number neutral customers on other competitor networks which are registered on Zamtel Mobile Money system.

Zamtel Mobile Money Operations Manager Samson Mwanza said the partnership is significant as it offers Zamtel customers a larger pool of agents to transact from, aside from the Zamtel shops and other agents.

Mr. Mwanza stated that the partnership is also in support of government’s efforts to increase financial inclusion especially for the people in the informal economy.

“We are excited to announce this partnership because it demonstrates our resolve to make Zambia a cashless society. We believe that this partnership will accelerate the move towards financial inclusion,” Mr Mwanza said.

He added, ‘the partnership also means that we have extended our operating hours which is convenient for our customers.”

And cGrate Zambia, the developers of 543 Pay say partnering with Zamtel represents a major step in the company’s growth strategy.

cGrate Zambia Managing Director Kelvin Chikomo said the partnership will increase 543 Pay’s volume of transactions and offer ready access to cash for millions of Zambians.

“543 Pay has over 2000 merchants and more are coming on board every month. We are committed to delivering products that allow us to process payments by connecting customers, retailers and financial service providers.” Mr Chikomo said.

“To register via WhatsApp, customers need to add +260 211 840 008 as a WhatsApp contact. Send “Hello” and follow the instructions and to register via SMS, the customer can SMS “Hello” to 543 and follow the instructions,” he said.
